After a three week break in the calendar, the bikes and riders of the British Superbike paddock are back in action this weekend as the teams arrive in Kent for the second time this season. The iconic Brands Hatch circuit will rumble to the sound of the plethora of bikes which will roll through the gates as the most competitive national bike racing competition in the world gets back underway. Last time out the Briggs Equipment Kawasaki ZX10RR of Jordan Weaving was to race to a top ten finish in round six of the Pirelli National Superstock 1000cc Championship at Snetterton, his 2nd highest result of the season so far. Almost immediately after that chequered flag had been waved in Norfolk, Weaving turned his attentions to Brands and he is looking forward to getting back on his Team Green machine after the brief pause in racing and get back to a track that has so many happy memories for him. It’s the first time in this campaign in which the riders will race the full 2.4mile GP layout at Brands, after the 1.2mile Indy layout was used in round two. In that last visit to the track back in April, Weaving picked up his first points as a 1000cc National Superstock rider for the Briggs Equipment Kawasaki team. Since then, the 20-year-old has consistently been in the points, scoring at every round and leaving him on the cusp of the top ten in the Championship standings. The GP Circuit has been a successful one for Weaving who has taken healthy points in three of his last four races there. His last visit to race this particular track layout saw him hoist the Superstock 600cc trophy as he rode to the title in October 2016, and he’s keen to get back out there when free practice gets the weekend underway on Friday. “It’s a weekend I’m really looking forward to, even more so after the last round at Snetterton where we made quite a bit of progress in terms of my connection with the bike and the team. I understand the bike more and more with every round I’m out there on it. We’ve made plenty of changes to it over the season so far too, so that’s also helping me understand how things works off the track. It’s been a real learning curve for me and I just want to soak everything up and take as much valuable experience from it as I can. “The Brands Hatch GP circuit is one I always look forward to going to, I’ve won there before and seem to go well round the longer layout there. It’s been a good circuit for me in the past; I broke the lap record there last season by 0.7 seconds so it’s definitely one of my favourites, which I know well. I want to get going at Brands, continue to learn more about my bike, enjoy my riding and the results will come off the back of that.”
