After a sojourn into the paddock of World Superbikes in round four of the Pirelli Moto National Superstock 1000 Championship, it’s a return to familiar pastures this weekend as Jordan Weaving and the Lee Hardy Briggs Equipment Kawasaki team join back up with British Superbikes as they all head to Scotland. Knockhill is the destination for round five of the Pirelli National Superstock 1000cc Championship and another chance for Weaving to get back aboard his Kawasaki ZX10-RR. Last time out at Donington it was a mixed bag for the 20 year old, making headway in the first part of the 100 mile race to finish just outside the top ten before then seeing his race ended in a collision in race two. However, Weaving is making his way to just north of Dunfermline full of confidence despite the collision which ended his hopes in round four. Since the racing at Donington a couple of weeks ago, Weaving has tested at Snetterton alongside the Superbikes in very blustery conditions, he was to finish the test in the top ten. That experience gained riding the Kawasaki in less than favourable weather could stand him in good stead to pick up a second decent result in as many visits to the Scottish circuit this weekend. Last season Weaving finished in the top ten in a red flag halted race at Knockhill in torrential rain, and he’s aiming for another solid performance in front of the Scottish superbike fans. “It was frustrating as we were running in the top ten and felt really good on the bike at Donington. Since then we’ve been testing at Snetterton and it went pretty well but we were hampered a little with the weather," Weaving said. “We tried to do a full race run but got cut short due to a red flag. It was difficult to be consistent with the high wind speeds so in the end we focused on a few riding positions and I concentrated on getting things right in terms of working on my corner exit. By the end of the day I came away feeling more comfortable with the bike, but as soon as we left the track thoughts moved to this weekend. “I’m hoping at Knockhill we can continue to make progress and be back fighting in the top six; that’s where I want to be aiming for. As a team we work so hard and have the right approach both in terms of setting the bike up and mentally, I really believe we can fight for those top positions.”
